Montgomery County Children Services has been accredited until 2005 by the Council on Accreditation (COA) for Children and Family Services. The COA accreditation attests the child protection agency meets the highest national standards and is delivering the best quality services to the community it serves.

"The COA process allows us to constantly measure and  re-evaluate ourselves to ensure the highest quality of services to abused and neglected children and their families," said Children Services Executive Director Helen Jones-Kelley. "It also demonstrates to taxpayers the agency's accountability in the management of its resources which in part comes from the Human Services Levy."

Montgomery County Children Services is the first public child protection agency in Ohio and the 7th in the nation to be accredited under COA's new best practice standards. 

The COA accreditation process involves an in-depth examination of the organization's compliance with the best practice standards including human resources, financial and risks management, continuous quality improvement as well as 39 service standards. Those standard address a full array of child, family and behavioral healthcare services including foster care, mental health counseling and substance abuse treatment.
