TANF RELATED LEGISLATION

 

H.R. 751 – To reauthorize and improve the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program by promoting work, family, and opportunity, and for other purposes.

 

S. 105 – To reauthorize and improve the program of block grants to States for temporary assistance for needy families, improve access to quality child care, and for other purposes.

 

S. 923 – To amend part A of title IV of the Social Security Act to require a State to promote financial education under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program and to allow financial education to count as a work activity under that program.

 

S. 1385 – To amend part A of title IV of the Social Security Act to ensure fair treatment and due process protections under the temporary assistance to needy families program, to facilitate enhanced data collection and reporting requirements under that program, and for other purposes.

 

S. 2119 – To reauthorize the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families block grant program through June 30, 2006, and for other purposes.

H.R. 4794 – To repeal a provision enacted to end Federal matching of State spending of child support incentive payments.

 

H.R. 2409 – To amend part D of title IV of the Social Security Act to modify the calculation of the child support automation penalty and provide for the reinvestment of any such penalty.

HB 79 EDUCATOR MISCONDUCT (Setzer) – Teacher misconduct and licensing issue – requires background checks minimum of every 5-years on teachers.  In Conference Committee 2-21-06.

 

HB 97 SAFE HAVEN LAW (Beuhrer) – Designate March as “2nd Chance of Life - Saving Babies, Supporting Families Month.”  In SG committee since 5-12-05.

 

HB 80 PUBLIC CONTRACT AWARD CONDITIONS (Smith, G.) – To prohibit a state agency from awarding a public improvement contract unless its terms require the contractor to participate in a specified drug-free workplace program.  Passed 3rd Consideration 3-22-06.

 

HB 132 PERFORMANCE BUDGETING (Strahorn) – To require performance budgeting by most state agencies and to require performance audits of those agencies.  In FA Committee since 3-15-05.

 

HB 187 CIVIL SERVICE REVIEW (Buehrer) –To implement recommendations of the Civil Service Review Commission.  In LGR Committee since 4-7-05.

 

HB 188 ELECTRONIC COMMERCE SERVICES (Buehrer) – To adopt the Electronic Government Services Act to prohibit a government agency from providing duplicative or competing electronic commerce services with the private sector unless the government agency complies with specified procedures.  In CL Committee since 4-7-05.
